MQ-4C Triton
HALE / Maritime ISR
The MQ-4C Triton is a high-altitude, long-endurance HALE maritime surveillance unmanned aircraft system developed by Northrop Grumman. Designed to complement crewed aircraft such as the P-8A Poseidon within the U.S. Navy’s maritime patrol and reconnaissance architecture, Triton provides persistent situational awareness across large ocean and coastal regions.
Its primary mission is to detect, classify and track maritime traffic and potential threats over wide areas from high altitude. An AESA-based maritime surveillance radar, EO/IR sensors, AIS and electronic support systems allow information about ships, aircraft and other maritime assets to be collected and shared with multiple platforms.
The platform is configured for long-duration missions with fully autonomous take-off and landing, SATCOM and line-of- sight communications, an anti-icing system and a 360-degree multi-intelligence sensor suite. According to the Plarok database, the MQ-4C Triton has a maximum speed of 330 knots, a cruise speed of 310 knots, an endurance of approximately 24 hours and a service ceiling of 56,000 feet. Its range of approximately 13,700 kilometres supports the surveillance of vast maritime areas during a single mission.
