IAI Harop
Kamikaze
The IAI Harop is a long-range loitering munition developed by Israel Aerospace Industries, combining characteristics of an unmanned aircraft and a missile. It is designed to search for, identify and engage high-value land and maritime targets when the mission requires a direct strike.
Its electro-optical/infrared seeker supports target search and assessment in a designated area without requiring complete prior intelligence. Harop can plan an approach and pursue an attack from different directions, including shallow or steep dive profiles.
A key feature is its remote, human-in-the-loop engagement control. The operator can confirm a target, abort the mission or direct the munition away before impact. This combines autonomous flight and search functions with human supervision during the engagement decision.
The canister-based launch system can be mounted on trucks or naval platforms. According to the Plarok database, Harop has an endurance of 9 hours, a maximum speed of 150 knots, an approximate range of 1,000 kilometres and a 23-kilogram payload. The manufacturer also describes the system as resilient to GNSS jamming.
